Could a mall be coming to Crestview?

Word of a possible shopping center in Crestview spawns the usual questions. What stores? What restaurants? Where at? How soon? A Crestview City Council workshop Monday tried to answer this question: "How do we pay for it?" A development agency hoping to build a shopping, dining and entertainment destination in Crestview says it will take a team effort to make the project a reality. Land Capital Group made a presentation prior to the regular Crestview City Council meeting requesting an economic development partnership between the developer, the city and Okaloosa County. "Think of this as a local economic stimulus package," Scott Davison of Land Capital Group told the council. "We know people in Crestview would love to see something like this, but without help from you, it’s not possible." The council approved a consent agenda motion to authorize city representatives to approach the county to discuss the project.

Labour turns guns on Salmond

Flooding the country with cheap Eastern European labour, driving down wages and conditions, and keeping native Scots out of much needed jobs.

2. Banning smoking.

ie. More erosion of personal freedoms.

People had already stopped smoking on public transport, and in the workplace. Pubs and clubs could quite easily have been encouraged to set up no smoking areas without draconian new laws.

3. Sectarianism.

Outside of some football grounds and certain pubs, how big a problem was sectarianism in 21st century Scotland?

I'm old enough to remember the 60's when this was a real issue (particulary on the West Coast), but it was an issue that was dying a natural death as Christianity lost it's grip.

4. Aid to Malawi!!!!!!

It's NOT Malawi that needs aid.

You need something to click between the two, and it certainly does. Their relationship is key, and Wenham and Murray give it genuine heart, singing with feeling and real passion and bringing to life this most unlikely of romances.

Brigadoon is a village which is fated to appear for just one day every century – or to see it from Brigadoon's point of view, each night a hundred years passes.

China apprehends 56 major economic crime suspects from overseas in ...

BEIJING, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- China apprehended 56 major economic crime suspects from more than 20 countries and regions in 2007, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

The ministry's spokesman, Wu Heping, told reporters on Wednesday that the suspects involved came from places including the Kyrghyz Republic, South Africa, the Philippines, Thailand and Myanmar.

The "splendid results" were achieved by intensified efforts last year to apprehend fugitives who had allegedly fled abroad through enhanced cooperation with international communities, Wu said.

The Chinese government had stepped up law enforcement cooperation with countries including the Netherlands, the United States and Canada through work-related contacts and data exchange, as well as actual apprehensions.

Hansen also admitted to making a hash of the sentencing, saying that "Mr Singh can feel himself fortunate that he has reaped the benefit of database and human errors." Oh dear...

So, just when it all seemed to be resolved with the minimum of fuss (which was actually a great deal) we now have plenty to chat about. Let's hear it then...

Elsewhere, Sir Richard Hadlee has lent his weight to Jesse Ryder following his surprise call up to the New Zealand side, and Ravi Bopara wants to play more Test cricket. Quelle surprise, eh?

Here's to another fine day of banter - take it away folks!
