| Girls hoops: Princess Anne zips through First Colonial slowdown
Harris showed her glee early Tuesday, scoring 17 points before halftime and dropping in a few daggers from beyond the 3-point arc. She buried one during a 9-0 spurt in the final 3:40 of the second quarter to help the Cavaliers take a 25-13 halftime lead. .
Quickly's Neighbors/Porter County
People of Valparaiso, be alert. The scum of the Earth walks among us. My husband accidentally dropped his credit cards and, within three hours, someone decided the best thing to do was to go shopping at Speedway, Wal-Mart and Best Buy. Ah, so that's what they are calling it -- "education." I have received six -- yes, six -- beautiful, expensive fliers in seven days regarding the proposed South Shore Railroad extension. Are you educating me? Yes, I guess I'm learning how much waste there is. I'm learning that someone will make big money off of this. I'm learning there is more than meets the eye here. Perhaps you should educate yourself on the definitions of fact and fiction. "The best seats in town" proclaim the signs at Valparaiso's movie theater that is under construction.
The sound that repels troublemakers
I think these things havnt been thought through, in York they have one of these outside a shop, and an old man arrived with his dog, the dog couldnt stand the noise, was howling, and obviously in pain, however the old man couldnt hear the noise and didnt know what was wrong, end result was an unhappy dog which could of hurt someone (even though it was very well behaved while away from the shop), along with all of the obvious legal problems with people's human rights etc. Cari I'm 13 and i can barely hear it! ill listen to it later cause right now the AC is on and its kinda messing with the sound and also people are like passing through the room... Phil I can hear it as loud as day, my age 36. Jen I'm 18 and I hear it perfectly. I plan on experimenting on my parents (47 and 54)later Mand I must be getting on, I could hardly hear that! How can I get that installed in my driveway? Dirted (14) i cant hear it but it gave me a head ache so it works andrew im 31 years old, I turned the volume right up and I could hear a faint high pitched beeping noise..
No Motive Found for Utah Mall Gunman
He didn't know his victims. He wasn't influenced by violent video games. Terrorism wasn't a factor. The young Bosnian immigrant who killed five people at a shopping mall nearly a year ago was a shy loner who uttered just two words during a random shooting spree that ended with his death in a storm of police gunfire. Salt Lake City police released their investigation of the rampage at the Trolley Square mall Tuesday, leaving unknown a motive for Sulejman Talovic's massacre two nights before Valentine's Day 2007. "None of the people interviewed believed the violent act ... could have been predicted," the report said. "All who were interviewed, including his family, were shocked and devastated by Talovic's actions." Wearing a bandolier of ammunition under his trench coat, Talovic, 18, fired his shotgun at least 29 times that night as he killed five people and wounded four more.
Area real estate agents say commercial vacancies not dire
Commercial development remains a bright spot in the Treasure Valley economy, especially when you compare it to ghost neighborhoods of unsold homes dotting the Valley. To be sure, high-profile vacancies suggest the possibility of an overbuilt market. The new Gateway Center shopping center in Nampa is mostly empty, with only a J.C. Penney anchor store open. And the pace of new construction and commercial rentals is beginning to slow - at least in Boise - from the go-go pace of the past few years. But commercial real estate agents aren't worried. 2008 promises more new stores, offices and industrial space, they said. "Anybody in my business will tell you that Canyon County is the hot spot, and we believe that 2008 will be more of the same," said Jerry Gunstream of Gunstream Commercial Real Estate in Nampa.George Iliff of Colliers International in Boise, which sells, leases and manages commercial properties, sees a slowdown, but not enough to worry about.
Voter Turnout Expected to Be High on Super Tuesday
Whitehead says, she's ready for the big turnout. "My mom owns a flower shop and so I know what it's like to be a Valentine's Day at a flower shop. And this is my Valentines Day at the Election office!" says Whitehead with a laugh. Whitehead says Johnson County's best voter turnout was at 79 percent. She'll be happy with more than 50 percent, but says considering their high early voter turnout they may very well beat their record of 79 percent. .

Memory-loss tests for elderly hot issue
At age 77, Alice Pickett of Seattle is healthy and active, but every once in a while, she temporarily forgets why she walked into a room or where she put the car keys. She worried that it might be the start of Alzheimer's. So Pickett decided to face that possibility and asked her doctor for a cognitive exam. She missed only one question. "I was pleased with myself. It was a really fun game," said Pickett, who now feels she can get on with her life. Pickett is part of a debate emerging nationally and in the Puget Sound area over whether older adults should be tested routinely for memory loss, as most are tested now for high blood pressure and cholesterol. The issue is fueled by widespread concern among health-care professionals, the federal government and others that Alzheimer's could become epidemic if a cure is not found, and a growing belief by some that early detection may be the best hope of halting dementia.
