Tom Cruise

Yeah, it's like science or something. I read it in a book somewhere. Anyway, it's something to think about. Don't rush into a decision. Should you say yes, I might have a doctor in the next room. I mean, he's just here to watch some football but, you know, if you really want to be the best runner you can be, this guy does some awesome work. In fact, when you went to the store, I got myself another penis. Check it out. Haha, it's a tail!"

NOTE: You know what else slows you down? Bras. Katie Holmes knows what's up.

Internet Family Sues MySpace After Teen Commits Suicide

While the Internet has a wealth of good things going for it, there are some bad points as well. Social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook illustrate these points well.

Most users of MySpace and Facebook use the sites as they were intended -- a place to meet friends and find like-minded people to chat with and make new friends. However, both Facebook and MySpace have had problems with sexual predators preying on unsuspecting children using the sites.

DailyTech reported earlier this month that Megan Meier, a 13-year-old girl, had committed suicide after a cyber-bully tormented her on her MySpace page. In the case of Meier, the local district attorney said charges were unlikely to be filed.

The Dallas Morning News reports that another young girl, a 14-year-old identified only as Julie Doe from California killed herself in July of 2006 after being sexually assaulted by a 30-year-old man that she had met on MySpace named Kiley Ryan Bowers.

Africa's war child

It's the event that eventually robbed the young Beah of his family and then sent him on his descent into inhumanity. Beah writes on the second page of his story: "The first time that I was touched by war I was 12. It was in January 1993.'' But the event he goes on to describe did not occur until January 1995. Intriguingly, it's very likely that the seeming discrepancy that lies in Beah's book would never have come to light but for a couple from Busselton on Western Australia's south coast, Bob and Peta Lloyd, who were keen admirers of Beah and his book. Lloyd, newly appointed as general manager of Sierra Rutile in mid-2007, originally believed he had located Beah's father, Joseph, who worked at the mine. An investigation during the past two months by Inquirer has revealed the man is not the father - although he is a relative - but the dismissive and/or hostile reception the Western Australian pair received when they initially tried to tell their good news to Beah's publishers, Farrar, Straus and Giroux, the book's distributors in Australia, HarperCollins, and Beah's American guardian, so distressed them that they went further, to the website of Enough Rope with Andrew Denton.

Altria's Split: Where There's Smoke…

With the global spotlight soon to bear down, Beijing has promised a smoke-free Olympics this summer. And earlier this month officials announced a citywide smoking ban in Beijing offices, hotels, and restaurants. So far, enforcement has been lax. "It will take time," says Hirohisa Shimura, a tobacco-industry analyst at UBS (UBS) in Tokyo. "Chinese people are well-known for their fondness for smoking. You can't change such national character easily."

Anti-tobacco activists know they face an uphill battle. "There are 350 million smokers in China—these people are not going to quit tomorrow," says Stella Bialous, a consultant to the World Health Organization. But, she adds, it's "huge progress for China even to discuss it."

Longtime DQ in Cobb closes after 5 decades

Dale and Bogey Stoner took the Waffle House closing a few years back as a sign. The Smyrna eatery was a stone's throw from the family's Dairy Queen on South Cobb Drive.

"Things have got to be bad if a Waffle House closes," Dale Stoner said.
