New Zimbabwe currency imminent

RBZ says it's time to teach these people a lesson. Some people were beginning to sell money for between 15% and 20% margins. This is unacceptable," Gono said.

Commencing Thursday this week, Gono said the RBZ would engage all banks to check on progress and preparedness for the change over.

The central bank has already acquired vehicles and set-up command centres for the exercise which will involve the police.

Banks and audit firms will for the forthcoming weeks, work towards changing their systems in preparation for the change-over from bearer cheques to a new currency.

Gono said he would lop off the zeroes from the new currency but refused to give away too much maintaining that "they could be 1, 2, 3 or four zeroes. Only the Governor knows how many".

Phishing As A Service, Part II

Now you no longer need an in with the international Storm syndicate to outsource your phishing attacks. On InformationWeek, George Hulme reports on a DIY phishing service:

"The service automatically generates text for the phishing emails that target various Web mail and social networks, including Facebook, Hi5, Orkut, and others...

While this is more of a novelty, and reminiscent of the old-time virus construction kits from the early 1990s, it reveals how heavily social networks will be targeted going forward."

Hulme predicts a significant attack through the social networks. I still think it's coming from instant messaging.

Competitive intelligence 101

Going through a legitimate retail experience process, purchase process, after sales support process and/or facility tour can tell you an immense amount about how competitors operate, price, treat customers, etc. Here are some less obvious examples:

- you want to know how much a financial services company will negotiate, say on rate, with customers: call their sales centre and attempt to negotiate — but do it 3-5 times on different days. This will tell you how much wiggle room corporate gives front-line sales, and how uniform the process is.

- you want to know how stringent a competitor is on quality: go on a facility tour and look for control charts or visible process metrics, observe the condition/age of the equipment and cleanliness of the facility, chat with the tour guide and employees asking questions about commitment to 'right-the-first-time' and waste or scrap.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Gary Coleman Paid? Foxy Free? Budden Calls Jay-Z ...

I hope the bid is real so that Gary can cake up off ebay and then go get some super lotion. Now what happened is Gary's woes appeared on TV and suddenly the bidding soared! Thank heaven for Jimmy Kimmel. Sheeesh. These rappers won't help the man knowing they had “what you talking about" as a rap line in a song. Jeezy needs to donate that Lambo to G.C.

INSIGHT ON WHY EDDIE AND TRACEY'S UNION FAILED

I never quite could get how Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds could date for over a year and divorce in two weeks. Here are some quotes from MSNBC.

"Tracey's kids hate Eddie. They had an argument that ended in Edmonds calling Eddie's mom a b***h.

IAC: Malone's 'Desperate Sideshow' Will Fail

A tussle over the planned breakup of IAC, the parent of Ticketmaster, Match.com, and About.com, has escalated into a bare-knuckles legal and public relations brawl between two media moguls.

IAC, run by Chief Executive Barry Diller, Tuesday labeled an effort to oust to him and seize control of the board by John Malone's Liberty Media "a desperate sideshow" that is doomed to fail. The press release also said that Liberty "has now gone off the deep end."

A Liberty Media spokesman declined to comment.

Jeffrey Shelton, an analyst at Natixis Bleichroeder, based in New York City, likened the tug-of-war to "two kids fighting in the sandbox."

IAC and Mr. Malone's Liberty Media, a holding company that owns a 30 percent share of IAC's economic value but controls 62 percent of its shareholder voting power, filed dueling lawsuits last week in Delaware.
