THE LECKEY FILE

Sleep is underrated in today's working world.

We hear tales of driven chief executives who catch three or four hours of sleep before heading to the office for a nice 5 a.m. start of the day.

Travel cuts into sleep time. My cross-country flight last week was four hours late, and I'll bet most business travelers on the plane made it to the office on time the next day. Traffic puts such a strain on commuters that they depart for work hours before they need to show up.

Next year she'll be in the tope!

Parking: 4,000 colons ($8). Bathrooms: 200 colons (40 cents). Entrance to the dance club: 2,000 colons ($4). Bringing your own beer: a good idea.

Or at least that's what most of the spectators seemed to think at the horse parade in Palmares Thursday afternoon. The street was full with people laughing, dancing and — drinking beer. The crowd on the sidewalk was so thick it was hard for anyone to move, much less get a view of the parade. Some even started the celebration with drinks on the bus ride to the festival. Many parade spectators had set up their own tents complete with lawn chairs and coolers full of Imperial and Rock Ice.

The horse riders themselves were not to be left out. The men and women in cowboy hats sipped on cans and plastic cups.

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith says she doesn't walk alone at night. Do ...

But both men agreed that Sutton was a good place for business.

"It has an extremely pleasant environment, good transport links to the airports and central London," said Mr Wood.

To overcome the problem the chamber has been encouraging businesses in its twin towns to set up branches in Sutton. The council and Mr Burstow have also been lobbying the Government to get a fair deal for Sutton in the distribution of grants.

Norwegian airline industry aims to curb CO2 emissions despite traffic ...

A Norwegian air travel industry study on Wednesday presented 50 steps it hopes can cap climate damaging emissions at current levels until 2020 despite an expected sharp increase in traffic. A study, called "Sustainable and Socially Beneficial Air Travel," was a joint effort by Norway's air travel industry, business groups, government agencies and research institutes. It was coordinated by Avinor, the state airport management company. The report called for upgrades to more efficient aircraft, "greener" fuel saving measures for taxiing, takeoffs and landings, and eventually using alternative fuels. It also said better coordination of flights by rival airlines cut could emissions by reducing the number of empty seats on some routes. .

Minneapolis/Mall of America

MINNEAPOLIS—This isn't a tale of two cities. Not exactly. It's not even a tale of Twin Cities, which will probably miff St. Paul—but, St. Paul, we'll make it up to you someday.

This is about Minneapolis and The Mall of America.

Minneapolis has 30 live theater venues, including two that have won Tonys: the Guthrie Theater and the Children's Theatre Company.

A pastor's experiment proves beneficial to charities

By Lynn O'Shaughnessy

Inspired by a Biblical tale and a Hollywood movie, a minister in Southern California started a movement with a pocketful of cash that encourages people to discover creative ways to help others. The idea, officially called the Kingdom Assignment, has been adopted primarily by churches around the country and overseas. But religious organizers who have created similar programs say that other nonprofit organizations could duplicate some version of the charitable venture.

Six years ago, Denny Bellesi, the founding pastor of the nondenominational Coast Hills Community Church, in Aliso Viejo, Calif., handed out $100 bills from the church's coffers to 100 volunteers from the congregation.

Officials say Pennsauken woman was beaten at garage

Felicia Mikels, the teenage mother from Pennsauken who was killed last weekend, was savagely beaten at a garage where her uncle stored equipment for his cleaning business, prosecutors said yesterday.

Mikels, 17, had been shopping at the Cherry Hill Mall before she was lured by text messages to a late-night meeting with that uncle, Christopher Mikels, and his buddy Douglas Mandichak.

The new details of Felicia Mikels' slaying were presented at an arraignment yesterday in state Superior Court, in Camden County, where Mikels, 26, and Mandichak, 25, were charged with murder.

Investigators continued to comb the Pennsauken Creek in Cinnaminson yesterday for Felicia Mikels' body. State troopers up to their shoulders in the frigid waters used axes to punch through the ice as police dogs sniffed for traces of the woman along the water's edge.
